I have been our knocking doors campaigning and personally asking the voters of District 1 for their vote since April of this year for the primary and the general election.  Recently to be prepared for the general election my time has been spent knocking most likely unaffiliated voters and libertarian registered voters.  The reception at the door has been nothing but positive from all but one person who called me a fascist for being a registered Republican.  I tried to have a conversation with him, stating that being a Republican or better yet a conservative has nothing to do with fascist ideology.  Below are the things that I expressed to defend my principles.  When I asked him to defend his position he only stated that on the linear diagram of political ideology there is fascism on the right and communism on the left and since conservatives related and call themselves right then that means they are fascist.

1. Conservatives are for individual rights, not statism
2. They believe the state serves citizens, not vice versa
3. They are for liberty, not totalitarianism

4. They are for free markets, not corporatism or socialism
5. They are for private property, not state property
6. They are for a legally equal, ‘anti-racist’ society based on individual rights, not group rights
7. They are for freedom of religion, not theocracy

8. They believe rights naturally belong to human beings and are not granted by the government
9. They are for less government intervention, not control over every aspect of life
10. They are patriotic, not nationalist
11. They support the Constitution, not dictatorships
