I received this heartfelt thank you last week and would like to share it. When working on repairing or reconstructing the county roads, road crews take some unneeded verbal discourse because of inconvenience to drivers. We close roads and create detours that are sometimes several miles out-of-the-way. These closures and detours are for the safety of both the driver and the county workers. When you see fresh oil signs, don’t drive through the construction zone because there is fresh oil on the road. When the sign says road closed, there is a good reason for this and you should take the detour.
This resident of NE Cleveland County, has had the patience and the appreciation of District 1 and District 2 crews to reconstruct SE 149th Street. His thank you letter is below. Thank you Mr. Lewis.
Once upon a time, roads were rough and cruddy.
After rains came, they were nightmares, so muddy
Traveling at night, a perilous plight with very few signs or markers in sight.
We would still fumble o’er rugged routes today if those hard-working road crews had not paved our way.
While cruising down some busy street.
An occasional pot hole you may greet.
Without second thoughts, road crews fix it like new.
Keeping roads safe for one and you.
Heartfelt thanks and my blessings abound for “road crews” who toil, in town after town.
May the Lord travel with them in their arduous journeys, along their way.
May He keep them safe in the new year each day, during all that sand, that tar, and that pavement they lay.
Thank Your, Florence Lewis
