The May 31, 2013 Tornado was up graded to EF5.  Several thousands of OGE and OEC customers were without of power for the past several days.  They hope to get customers’ power restored by Thursday.  Below is an update that I received.

Dear Commissioners:

In an effort to keep you informed on the status of our progress, below is a recap of the storm’s damage and our restoration efforts and projections:

Since the storm on Friday, we have restored power to more OGE Linemanthan 100,000 homes and businesses. In addition to our dedicated employees, we have 400 employees and contractors from other utilities here helping get service restored to our customers.

As we are finishing our damage assessments, more focus is shifting to repairs and reconstruction.

Since we have been able to restore power to main circuits (nearly 100 of them), the outage numbers have fallen drastically. However, once those efforts are completed, the speed at which service is restored to large numbers of customers will decrease, because our work will transition to more of a neighborhood-by-neighborhood method of restoring power. We have hundreds of poles and cross-arms which need to be replaced.

We have created a map that reflects our estimated time of restoration throughout the affected areas (based on CURRENT INFORMATION). We plan to update this map daily throughout the service restoration effort. The map is available at www.oge.com, or at this link.

Finally, just yesterday, we came upon a downed power line that was still energized! Please help us encourage your constituents to stay away from all downed lines!

“Let’s stay Safe Together!”

Please let me know of any concerns you may have….
