As County Commissioner, I have been the representative of Cleveland County to the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments for the last 7 years.  One of the committees that I sit on as a board member is the Intermodal Transportation Policy Committee.  This committee oversees the Federal transportation funding which is approximately $23,000,000.  Cleveland, Oklahoma and parts of Logan, McClain and Canadian Counties and all the cities within are members of this committee.

Final 2010 OCARTS Employment by County, City & TAZ

Jobs and employmentAssociation of Central Oklahoma Governments , in its role as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), is in the process of preparing the 2040 Oklahoma City Area Regional Transportation Study (OCARTS) regional transportation plan. One of the building blocks for the update is the development of the base year (2010) employment data. Staff has updated the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission’s second quarter 2005 wage and salary file with changes from the 2010 file.

All of the records from the 2005 file have been geographically matched to a physical address in each city. In many cases, this required employment totals to be sub allocated to multiple locations throughout the OCARTS area.

In order to have a more complete picture of the total employment in the OCARTS area, the Employment adself-employment data was added to the wage and salary data. The self-employment data was taken from the 2010 Census Transportation Planning Package (CTPP) employment file, which included self-employment by traffic analysis zone (TAZ).

Between 2000 and 2010, the OCARTS self-employment percentage of the total employment increased from 9.6% to 11%.

The attached table lists the wage and salary, self-employed, and total employment by County, City and OCARTS total. The following link shows a map of the 2010 employment by TAZ
